Orange Fruit in RED color

My collegeau picked an Orange from the hotel assuming it for Orange and when peeled , it was Blood RED in color. Was it Decomposed? Or was something else wrong? When wikied he found that its called . BLOOD ORANGE , Mutation from Sweet Orange which comes from Italy.The three most common types of blood oranges are the Tarocco (native to Italy), the Sanguinello (native to Spain), and the Moro, the newest variety of the three.
